On my last night on the stage, Mr. Germanch (remember the French/German guy from my last post?) surprised me with news I would never dream be given:
"Julievetta is sick" Said Mr Germanch.
"Wha..?" I said in a confused reply.
"JULIETTA IS SICK!"
"Sheesh... I am sorry..."
"No, Alex, I am sorry, it's just... My main female lead in our show "Vicked" tonight, is sick... And unfortunately, so is her understudy. Bad. Bad. Bad. Bad!"
"NOOooooooOOOOOooooo!" I yelled, causing Mr. Germanch to literally jump out of his too-big-boy-for-a-little-man-pants.
"Idena cannot be sick!" I dragged on....
"She was sooo right for the part, and without her, it's not Wicked, it's... it's... Goodness!"
Now Mr. Germanch was just confused... Right until a lightbulb popped up above his little bald head.
"Vo, I recon you are familiar veeth the show..."
I laughed a little.
"Are you joking? I have Wicked dolls, posters, earrings, and I even got my hands on a french-fry, half-eaten by a background character..."
I continues to go on and on.
And two hours later, I was sitting at IDENA'S CHAIR (OK, the one 20 yards away from it...) waiting for my make-up artists. And just as I thought the day couldn't get any better, two very familiar faces walked into the room.
"KAILEE? BAILEY?!" I yelped.
The lady walking through the door jumped, and dropped the tray of cookies she had brought in for me. "Oops, wrong person." I muttered under my breath.
I helped her pick up the cookies, and swept up the crumbs, and then she left with a crazed look on her face, no matter how many times I reminded her I was not a ranaway from an insane asylum.
And that was when I really did see some familiar faces...
"Alex!"
"Kailee! Bailey!"
I had never been so happy to see my little sisters. I regretted all the times I had slammed my door in their faces, or yelled at them for reading my not-so-secret diary. We hugged so tight, I am shocked they didn't squish to death in my not-so-strong grip on them. We all exchanged stories ever so quickly, as they masked me under more make-up than Olay may ever hold. I was constantly hugging them whenever I was offstage, and after the show, I snuck away to the hotel they were staying at
(and I arranged to stay at that night as well) and they helped me dress up for the after show party, which Mr. Germanch demanded me to come to. Kailee and Bailey chose to not come, as they were much too tired after plane rides, and all the excitement. By the time I got back, they were fast asleep, and I stealthily snuck in, and fell asleep after 5 minutes on the couch.
We woke the next morning and laid around, watching T.V., talking, and enjoying our delicious breakfast, brought in by room service. I had performed my last show last night, by my very short 4-week contract... Since when did those things exist? Ah, never mind... That afternoon, we went shopping and walked down the strip mall. As we silently walked past the jail house, my bracelet shocked me.
"OW!" I howled. I've never been good with pain.
"What?" Kailey asked.
"Oh, nothing..."
And then it happened again!!!
I didn't understand, certainly, Mom would never give us all bracelets that would shock us...
LIGHTBULB!
I grabbed Bailey and Kailee and dragged them inside to see...
Not what I was expecting:
Carter. Hailee. Rikki. They. Were. All. There.
And that was when I got confused...
Why were all my sisters behind bars?
-Alex
